Creating an Inclusive Classroom: A Magical Lesson Plan Journey with "Prince Charming Misplaces His Bride"

Welcome to our enchanted classroom, where every student's journey is honored and supported. Join me as I share the magical adventure of crafting a lesson plan for our 4th-grade ELA students, centered around the charming fairy tale "Prince Charming Misplaces His Bride" by Christopher Healy. In this tale, we'll discover how I ensured that every student, no matter their background or abilities, felt valued and included in our learning journey.

My main goal was to make sure that all students could learn and succeed together. To do this, I carefully chose different activities and ways of learning that would fit everyone's needs. For students who are learning English, I used pictures, simple language, and teamwork activities to help them understand and practice language skills. I also made sure to include resources in both English and their native language to make learning easier (Colorado, 2021). And for students who learn best by moving around, I included activities like acting out scenes from the story to keep them engaged (Parrish, 2019).

Students with special needs got extra help and different kinds of assignments that fit their abilities. I provided special notes and online resources to help students who have trouble reading. This way, they could still take part in the lesson and learn at their own pace (Parrish, 2019).

For our advanced students, I gave them extra challenges and projects to explore topics they were interested in beyond what we were learning in class. This way, they could keep growing and stay excited about learning (Azzam, 2016).

When it came to testing what we learned, I made sure to use different ways to check everyone's understanding. We had discussions, reviewed each other's work, and asked questions to see how well we understood the story (Yale, n.d.). And for our final test, we used a fun online quiz that let everyone show what they knew in their own way (Yale, n.d.).

Technology played a big role in making sure everyone could learn in their own way. We used online tools like Google Classroom, Edpuzzle, and Quizizz to make learning more interactive and fun. These tools let students learn at their own pace and get instant feedback on their work (Stern, 2015).

In the end, my goal was to make sure every student felt welcome and supported in our classroom. By using different ways of teaching, testing, and using technology, we created a space where everyone could learn and succeed together. And as we continue on our learning journey, I promise to keep finding new ways to help all of my students thrive.
